ROYAL CAVALRY RUMP RACKET—queer magazine scandal sullies queen

October 1975
Sensational claims about a Guards vice ring are being put to Defence Minister Roy Mason. The homosexual racket is said to involve up to 100 soldiers of the elite Household Cavalry. According to an informant, clients would make telephone arrangements to meet guardsmen for homosexual activities. The informant has named the man behind the racket as 29-year-old Tom Pitman, a Corporal of Horse in the Life Guards. The scandal came to light with the publication of an article called "Sex and Violence" in "Him," a magazine for homosexuals. The article was illustrated by photographs of Corporal Pitman in uniform and three men in underwear, in a variety of poses. The men have been identified as members of the Life Guards. Sets of the pictures, taken by cameraman Charles Koetser, are being sold through the magazine.
