London's girl hooligans terrorize schoolmate TO SUICIDE

This was Tina Wilson … a tormented 15-year-old girl who, her parents believe was driven to kill herself by the persecution of schoolgirl bullies.

December 11, 1973

The campaign of terror made Tina’s life a nightmare, her mother claims. Often she played truant because she was too frightened to go to school. Bullies even scrawled on a school wall: "Tina Wilson will die." And the bullies were right. Tina was found dead at her grandmother’s home in Southampton – apparently from a drug overdose. A note was by her side. A girl pupil at the school, Redbridge Secondary at Southampton, said that when the news of Tina’s death was announced at the school, on girl immediately went hysterical and cried: "I did it. It’s all my fault." Now Tina’s parents have refused to accept flowers from the school for her funeral on Friday (14-12-73). And they have complained to the city’s education chiefs. Mr. A. Leonard, Southampton’s acting chief education officer, said: "This is a tragic case and I have ordered a full investigation."
